On Sunday, May 3, 2026, Vancouver Shengmi Community Society hosted our Trout Lake cleanup and picnic at John Hendry Park in Vancouver. It was a hot, sunny, and tiring morning, but everyone finished the day happy.

Starting at 10:00 AM, volunteers worked in groups around the lake, trails, lawns, sports fields, and main public areas. The cleanup wrapped up at about 12:30 PM.

City of Vancouver materials list John Hendry Park / Trout Lake at about 27.3 hectares, or 67.5 acres. Trout Lake itself is about 4.0 hectares, so the surrounding land and green space are roughly 23.3 hectares.

The City of Vancouver provided litter pickers, gloves, and garbage bags for the cleanup. After the event, we washed and dried the tools so they could be returned properly the next day.
